Omexom Portugal and RWE: A Successful Partnership

Energy Transition / Solar

Omexom Portugal, a brand of VINCI Energies Portugal, reaffirms its commitment to the Energy Transition by helping its clients achieve sustainable goals.

In partnership with RWE, we inaugurated the Morgavel solar power plant in Sines. This project, marking RWE’s debut in the Portuguese solar market, represents a significant advancement in the region’s energy transition, known for being one of the main renewable energy hubs in Europe.

Omexom Portugal joined forces with AI Clearing, a company specializing in artificial intelligence solutions, to optimize the installation and construction management processes of the solar park. Through data analysis and machine learning, efficiency and clean energy production were significantly increased. By applying AI, we were able to share real-time reports with the client, adding a high level of transparency and trust.

Additionally, the innovative Green Container was developed internally, a project that not only promotes the use of renewable energies but also redefines innovation standards. This solution allowed the replacement of diesel generators, resulting in extraordinary savings of up to 90% in diesel consumption and the elimination of harmful noise pollution to the surrounding ecosystem and people on site. The Green Container, composed of three single-phase inverters and a photovoltaic inverter, uses the available modules on-site to produce energy and supply the project’s facilities, significantly reducing CO2 emissions and associated costs.

The Morgavel solar power plant stands out for its advanced technical features, including the use of the latest technology bifacial modules and single-axis trackers, as well as central inverters that ensure the highest safety standards. The bifacial technology allows electricity to be produced from both sides of the panel, increasing system efficiency with additional energy production.

The Morgavel solar park, with an installed capacity of 44 MWac (49 MWp), aims to generate enough green energy to power over 45,000 homes. Optimized construction management allowed us to achieve the goal of zero accidents, demonstrating Omexom’s commitment to safety and quality.

RWE, the owner and operator of the Morgavel photovoltaic park, is one of the leaders in renewable energies. The solar park, with 90,832 photovoltaic modules, occupies an area of 112 hectares and will provide green electricity to approximately 42,000 Portuguese households. This project reinforces RWE’s renewable energy footprint in the Iberian Peninsula and significantly contributes to achieving local climate goals.

This project directly contributes to the green energy goals of Portugal and the European Union, with Omexom Portugal dedicated to playing a crucial role in this transition. With over 430 business units worldwide, Omexom offers innovative and sustainable solutions for independent power producers, transmission and distribution system operators, local and regional authorities, and their users.
