OMEXOM and HYPERION Join Forces for 72.2 MWp in Solar Energy in Portugal

Solar / Power

Omexom Portugal has signed two Full EPC contracts with Hyperion for the construction of photovoltaic plants in Estremoz and Alcochete, with capacities of 51.8 MWp and 20.4 MWp, respectively. These projects, which are already under construction, cover a total area of 128 hectares and involve the installation of over 100,000 photovoltaic modules.

Hyperion, the owner of these projects, has been a reference in the renewable energy sector since 2006, with a strong track record in developing solar projects. Hyperion has already developed more than 640 MW of solar energy in the Iberian Peninsula, being one of the main contributors to its implementation in Portugal, and is now also dedicated to developing technologies such as storage batteries, hydrogen, and wind energy.

The projects in Estremoz and Alcochete stand out for their use of advanced technological solutions, such as the Green Container, a solution from Omexom Portugal, which reduces diesel consumption by up to 90% during construction, and drones supported by artificial intelligence to optimize construction management and monitoring. Additionally, they use bifacial photovoltaic modules, which ensure superior performance in solar energy production, along with single-axis trackers and string inverters. These advanced technologies guarantee greater efficiency and sustainability in energy generation.

These two projects represent a significant contribution to the production of clean energy in Portugal, aligning with national and European decarbonization goals. The completion of the works and connection to the grid are scheduled for the third quarter of 2025.
